1. Discounts A number of clients have expressed interest in receiving discounts. Because each icon is produced individually, I don't offer a quantity discount. However, when elements from one image can be used appropriately in another image, I offer a 30% discount, as follows:
Feel free to ask about these discounts or any special circumstances in your project that might be eligible for a discount not mentioned here. I need the following technical information about the project:
For example, "Windows NT/98, toolbar icon, 16x15, standard 16-color palette, in the standard .Ico format with transparent background, Sort Column function." "When the user clicks this button, a dialog box appears so the user can sort the contents in the active column in a variety of ways, such as Ascending, Descending, or Custom." It's also very helpful to receive any screen captures you might have of the product so the look and feel of the product can be leveraged into the new designs. This process can be greatly streamlined by meeting with the customer in person, on site. Typically, toolbar icons require 2 to 3 drafts and application icons require 4 to 5 drafts. Obviously, it's best to agree early on the basic concepts to avoid completely reworking the icons and adding costs. For example, the scope of revisions for the third draft of an image should be more pixel tweaking than entirely new images which can require additional charges. Each icon is unique. Production can take up to 4 hours for a toolbar icon and up to 6 hours for an application icon. Application icons usually take more time because clients are understandably particular about these icons. These images represent their product on the desktop. These time estimates represent the total time it takes to create a final icon, and a first draft is the major portion of the total time. After rates and project schedules are discussed, I work with you to determine what discounts you are eligible for and prepare a formal, written bid. I then fax the bid to you for review and approval. Actual production
begins when I receive formal authorization. This is usuallly a faxed copy
of a purchase order from a company's Accounting Department. |
